Abstract:

PURPOSE: To manufacture a sintered gold alloy having satisfactory workability and a hard fine purple color by adding a specified amount of Ni, Co or Pd to an intermetallic Au-Al compound having a specified composition as a principal component.

CONSTITUTION: Powder of an intermetallic compound consisting of 70W83wt% Au and 30W17wt% Al is mixed with 7W30wt% powder of one or more among Ni, Co and Pd and the powdery mixture is sintered. The resulting sintered gold alloy has satisfactory workability and an original hard fine purple color. The corrosion resistance necessary for an ornamental material is comparable to that of a conventional gold alloy.
