PURPOSE: To intercept an article with a pusher without giving a shock to the following article by providing an extruding part and an intercepting part orthogonal to the flow of a conveyor on a pusher in the pusher device laterally extruding an article on the conveyor.

CONSTITUTION: When a pusher 3 is made to advance to cross the upper part of a conveyor 1, the article on the conveyor 1 is pushed with an extruding part 3a to be discharged in the lateral direction of the conveyor 1. At that time, the articles being successively sent on the conveyor 1 are intercepted with an interception part 3b. When the discharge of the articles finishes, the pusher 3 is made to retreat. At that time, since the movement of the pusher 3 is shifted to an escaping direction from the flow of the conveyor 1, the friction with the articles in the part 3b is eliminated or reduced, and the possibility, that the articles on the conveyor 1 move to the reverse lateral direction to a discharge direction, is reduced.
