Abstract:
To provide a die-cast mold for aluminum having a novel release layer economical and easy to coat.SOLUTION: A die-cast mold for die-casting aluminum comprises a first die having a first mold surface, a first multi-layered coating placed over the first mold surface, a second die having a second mold surface, and a second multi-layered coating placed over the second mold surface. The first multi-layered coating includes a first base layer and the second multi-layered coating includes a second base layer. The first die and the second die are mated together to form a mold cavity. The first base layer and the second base layer consist of zirconium nitride or zirconium carbide independently of each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A
