Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a PWM output signal to make a duty cycle of the PWM output signal exactly equal to a duty cycle of a PWM input signal without reducing duty cycle resolution.SOLUTION: A PWM circuit that generates a PWM output signal having an output frequency in response to a PWM input signal having an input frequency includes an algebraic summing circuit used to generate an increment signal in order to compare the PWM output signal with a PWM input signal and when a value of the PWM input signal exceeds a value corresponding to the PWM output signal and generate a decrement signal when the value of the PWM input signal is smaller than the value corresponding to the PWM output signal. By increasing the value of the duty cycle signal in response to each increment signal generated by the algebraic summing circuit and by decreasing the value of the duty cycle signal in response to each decrement signal, an integrator generates a duty cycle signal representing the duty cycle of the PWM input signal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
