Abstract:

To obtain the subject novel compound that is useful as a medicine, particularly a therapeutic agent having the action to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines as tumor necrotic factor(TNF) and the like.

This compound is represented by formula I [A is a single bond or the like; D is a single bond or the like; R1 is pyridyl or the like; R2 is phenyl or the like; R3 is a halogen or the like; R4-R8 are each H, a lower alkyl; (k) is 0-3; (m) is 1 or 2], typically 2-(4-fluorophenyl)-5-(1-oxothiochroman-6- yl)-3-(pyridin-4-yl)-1H-pyrrole. The compound of formula I where R4 is H is prepared by subjecting the a compound of formula II (R14 is H) to the condensation reaction with a compound of formual III (R15 is a lower alkyl or the like) in acetic acid in the presence of ammonium acetate to form a compound of formula IV followed by hydrolysis or by hydrolysis and decarboxylation.
