A pyroelectric element 4 is supported by a sub-mount 7 only by a domain of an area equivalent to 9% to 16% of the area of an under surface of the pyroelectric element 4 in the middle of the under surface of the pyroelectric element 4, leaving the rest as a gap g. This allows the pyroelectric element to be deformed, making it possible to prevent piezoelectric noises from occurring or cracks from occurring. Since the area of the sub-mount can be precisely defined between 9% and 16% of the area of the under surface of the pyroelectric element, making it possible to form a just enough thermal conduction link. Complicated work for thereinto inserting a filling material is dispensed with in manufacture and also deficiency owing to a filling material is prevented from occurring.
