To provide a pyrolysis furnace of new structure with excellent cost performance and a pyrolysis method pyrolyzing waste while suppressing the generation of dioxins.
Limiting oxygen concentration is controlled by restricting the flow rate of pyrolyzing air to the pyrolysis furnace 50 and lessening the discharge rate of exhaust gas. Pyrolysis efficiency is improved by providing slitted shelves inside the pyrolysis furnace 50 for heat to uniformly act with the supplied air. By using pyrolyzing air magnetically treated by permanent magnets 15 disposed opposite to an upper air supply pipe 4 and a lower air supply pipe 5, continuous and efficient pyrolysis can be obtained with a little amount of air, to suppress generation of dioxins or harmful substances contained in exhaust gas.
