To provide a method for achieving stable pyrolysis and further converting a carbonaceous resource into gas energy with high efficiency in conversion of the carbonaceous resource into the gas energy with the high efficiency.
The method for pyrolyzing the carbonaceous raw material is carried out as follows. A gas for pyrolyzing a carbonaceous raw material 1 is blown from one site on the side of a long side on the horizontal cross section of a rectangular shaft pyrolysis furnace 3 in which the length ratio (short side/long side) of the short side to the long side in the horizontal cross section is 0.5-1 and the short side is ≥500 to ≤1,500 mm at ≥15 to ≤30 Bm/s gas flow velocity in the horizontal direction in the moving-bed type rectangular shaft pyrolysis apparatus for drying/pyrolyzing the descending carbonaceous resource 1 charged into the furnace with the ascending high-temperature gas and then discharging the dried/pyrolyzed carbonaceous resource as a carbonized material 12 from the lower part.
