Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a positive electrode active material for a lithium ion secondary battery, which includes lithium iron phosphate with a larger specific surface area; and a lithium ion secondary battery which includes lithium iron phosphate, and is arranged by using such a positive electrode active material to have a larger a contact area between the positive electrode active material and an electrolytic solution, and to exhibit a higher output.SOLUTION: A positive electrode active material comprises: primary particles of lithium iron phosphate crystal having internal cavities. Using such crystal having internal cavities can enlarge the crystal specific surface area, which enables the increase in contact area between the positive electrode active material and an electrolytic solution. The crystal having internal cavities can be obtained by stirring a suspension including a precursor in an oxygen-containing atmosphere, followed by synthesis according to a hydrothermal method.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
