Title:
QUANTIZING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3150475
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the loss of a quantizer without affecting a bit stream syntax by quantizing entire spectrum samples in an interval by a correcter and quantizer using the entire dynamic range of an intermediate tread quantizer.
CONSTITUTION: The quantizer dynamic range when bit distribution data WL = 3 is extended to ±1-±1.17 or 7/ 6. This syntax is not accepted in the bit stream, and a conversion factor must be reduced to k=1.17 (or 7/6) so that the first bit stream syntax can be maintained. Then, the minimum error ε can be applied by an expression I by this reduction. A quantization noise can be logically improved, and the error can be further reduced by quantizing the conversion factor even when the effect is a little reduced. This intensifying method is especially valid for a high frequency to which the rough quantization, that is, the quantization of data less than 3 bit and saving are extremely important.
