Title:
QUANTUM BOXES COLLECTING ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3455987
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To materialize a quantum boxes collecting element high in freedom in design.
CONSTITUTION: This element is made in three-stage structure composed of an array of quantum dots QD1 for conduction of electrons, an array of quantum dots QD2 for input and output, and an array of quantum dots QD3 for conduction of positive holes. These quantum dots QD1, quantum dots QD2, and quantum dots QD3 are made of hetero junction superlattices of type I. The input is performed by applying a light to the selected quantum dot QD2, and the information processing is performed by conducting the electrons and the positive holes being produced in couples by the application of this light to the array of the quantum dots QD1 and the array of the quantum dots QD3, respectively, and the output is performed by the light emission by the recoupling of the electrons injected from the quantum dots QD1 corresponding to the quantum dots QD2 and the positive holes injected from the corresponding quantum dots QD3.
