Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a high-precision oscillator which has superior mass-producibility by connecting two tuning fork type quartz oscillators in series or in parallel, and allowing both of them to perform torsional oscillation.

CONSTITUTION: When a turning fork type quartz oscillator 11 having frequency temperature characteristics (fT charactersitics) 21 and an oscillator 12 having characteristics 22 are connected in parallel, composite fT characteristics cover a wide frequency range as shown by a curve 23 and have less variation in frequency. When an oscillator 31 having fT characteristics 41 and an oscillator 32 having characteristics 42 are connected in series, composite fT characteristics cover a wide temperature range as shown by an alternate long and short dash line 43 and have less variation in frequency. By utilizing the torsional oscillation of those two quartz oscillators 11 and 12, temperature Tp representing the peak of the frequency temperature characteristics has a wide temperature range from low temperature to extremely high temperature. When the torsional oscillation is applied to the oscillators 31 and 32, a positive and a negatve frequency primary temperature coeffieients are obtained, so a stable frequency is obtained within the wide temperature range, so that a high-precision wrist watch is obtained by using them.
