PURPOSE: To make a timepiece provided with a step motor which is easy to produce and has good functions by using a stator which is formed into a U-shape and is provided with a bent part of a V-shape in the end part of one leg thereof.
CONSTITUTION: A stator 3 wound with a coil 2 is formed into a longitudinal U- shape by a bar-like material and is provided with a bent part 4 which is bent to a V-shape at one leg end in a way as to flare outward. Such stator is provided in a case 1 in such a way that both leg ends extend to the same length in the longitudinal direction. A V-shaped groove 17 and a linear groove 18 that permit the insertion of the respective leg end parts of the stator 3 are provided near the rotor containing hole 12 of the surface on the case 1 side of a plate 10 by sandwiching the hole 12. The inner part 17b accommodating the root end side part 4b of the part 4 of the groove 17 and the linear groove 18 are so provided that the distances g1, g2, g3 among the leading end side part 4a of the part 4 at one leg end of the stator 3, the part 4b and the other leg part 4c of the stator 3 and the rotor 13 disposed in the hole 12 are set at g1>g2>g3.
