To provide a new quaternary ammonium compound with high safety and a therapeutic agent for cerebrovascular disorder having excellent effect.

This new quaternary ammonium compound is represented by general formula (I) or (I') (wherein A is a 1-4C straight chain or branched alkyl which may have a hydroxy group; R1 to R3 are each a 1-12C straight chain or branched alkyl; one of R4 to R8 is CO2- or SO3-; at most three of remaining R4-R8 are each one selected from hydroxy and 1-4C alkoxy; the remainders of R4-R8 are each H; one of R'4 to R'8 is CO2H or SO3H; at most three of remaining R'4-R'8 are each one selected from a protected hydroxy and 1-4C alkoxy; the remainders of R'4-R'8 are each H; and X- is an anion capable of forming a salt with a quaternary ammonium group). The therapeutic agent for cerebrovascular disorder contains the above quaternary ammonium compound as an effective ingredient.
