Quick lime with prolonged hydration time, which lime has been treated at a raised temperature with at least one compound selected from the group consisting of monocarboxylic acid, dicarboxylic acid or polycarboxylic acid, a salt of anyone of these acids or a salt of oxophosphoric acid, a process for the production of said product and the use thereof.
