Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A quinodimethane derivative of formula I (X is H or halogen).
USE: A red or violet colorant for low-molecular weight substance such as liquid crystal and mineral oil or polymeric substance such as polystyrene.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting the diazoindanedione derivative of formula II with triphenylcarbinol ether in the presence of a catalytic amount of rhodium acetate and treating the resultant compound of formula III with an acid to effect dealcoholation reaction.
