Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound useful as an antiallergic agent by reacting a specific amide derivative as an intermediate with a basic compound and subsequently subjecting the reaction product to an intramolecular cyclization reaction.
SOLUTION: This method for producing a quinoline derivative of formula I (R1 is H, an alkyl, an alkenyl or the like; R2 is an alkyl, an alkenyl, an aryl or the like; R3 is a reactive carboxyl group; R4-R7 are each independently H, hydroxyl group, an alkyl, an alkoxy or the like) comprises reacting an amide derivative of formula II with a basic substance (preferably an alkali metal alkoxide or an alkali metal amide) and subsequently subjecting the reaction product to an intramolecular cyclization reaction. The quinoline derivative of formula I includes 7-nitro-3-methoxy-4-hydroxy-1-ethyl-2(1H)-quinoline. The amide derivative of formula II can be obtained by the amidation of an amine derivative of formula III (A is H or CH2R1).
