NEW MATERIAL:A quinone compound expressed by formula I (R1 is methyl or methoxy, or two R1 is formed formula II; X is formula III or IV; Y1 is H, OH, carboxyl, amide, N-substituted amide, cyano, etc.; m is an integer 0W3; n is an integer 0W10; n' is an integer 1W5; k is an integer 1W3; and when k is 2 or 3, n' may be optionally changeable in the range of 1W5 on repetition two or three times or its hydroquinone derivative.
EXAMPLE: 2,3-Dimethoxy-5-methyl-6-(9-hydroxynon-5-ynyl)-1,4-benzoquinone.
USE: A medicine or its intermediate useful as an antiasthmatic agent, antiallergic, hypotensive, antiulcer, diuretic or antithrombotic agent with low toxicity.
PROCESS: A compound expressed by formula V (R2 is H, OCH3, etc.; R3 is CH3, methoxymethyl, etc.; Y2 is Y1, etc.) is subjected to the eliminting reaction of the protecting groups and oxidized, if necessary, to give the quinone expressed by by formula I or its hydroquinone derivative.
