PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable round surface working in an inner surface edge in a branch pipe crossing part of a pipe joint to be carried out efficiently and precisely with a cutting tool.SOLUTION: A round surface of an inner surface edge 4 is worked by combining the steps for: inserting a side cutter 10 with a round piece cutting insert attached to the outer periphery of a body into a branch pipe 3 to cut into the edge 4 by revolution under autorotation, carrying out the revolution of this time so that a cutting edge may move over a round surface of finishing target when moving along the edge 4 and moving by crossing the edge 4, and carrying out a cutting that is a combination of autorotation with revolution at each position where the side cutter is displaced in the pipe axial direction of the branch pipe to cut a region excluding a part of the edge and; inserting the side cutter 10 into a trunk pipe 2 to cut into the edge 4, carrying out the revolution of this time so that the cutting edge may move over a round surface of finishing target when moving by crossing the edge 4 at each position where the cutting edge is displaced in the pipe axial direction of the cutter, and carrying out a cutting of an unworked region of the edge.
