Abstract:

To provide a rack-and-pinion type steering device which suppresses initial wear of a sliding portion of a guide member and an outer circumferential surface of a rack and prevents generation of rattling noise.

A rack guide 36 to press the rack 26 against the side of a pinion 25a has the guide member 36b which freely slidably abuts on the outer circumferential surface 26a of the rack formed into a cylindrical surface shape protruding with a predetermined radius of curvature. The sliding portion 37 in a recessed cylindrical surface of the guide member is partially provided with sliding surfaces 37a, 37b each formed into a cylindrical surfaces shape having the same radius of curvature as the outer circumferential surface of the rack.
