Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack-and-pinion type steering device which can improve steering performance by smoothly moving a rack shaft when starting steering from a neutral position of a steering wheel at low-speed traveling.SOLUTION: When a steering wheel 3 is in the vicinity of a neutral position, a support yoke 25 is pressed to a direction of a rack shaft 16 by a coil spring 26 by a constant force, and an end part of a slide member 33 which is arranged at an internal peripheral face of the support yoke 25 at the rack shaft 16 side contacts with a recess 18 of a back face of the rack shaft 16. At this time, a preload (pressing force by the coil spring 26) in the vicinity of the neutral point is reduced, a friction force of an engagement part between a rack 15 and a pinion 14 is lowered, and the support yoke 25 and the rack shaft 16 abut on each other at a large load at a steering end, and in the neutral position of a steering angle, abut on each other at a small load.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
