Abstract:
To obtain a structure of a rack-and-pinion type steering gear unit which can prevent the direct contact of an external peripheral face of a rack guide and an internal peripheral face of a housing with each other.SOLUTION: A first elastic ring 12 is gripped between an external peripheral face of a rack guide 28 for pressing a rack shaft 4 toward a pinion shaft 3, and an internal peripheral face of a third accommodation part 16 for accommodating the rack guide 28. The rack guide 28 has a first cylinder part 32 extending to a direction approximating a cover 29 at a rear side part, and the cover 29 fixed to an opening end 18 of the third accommodation part 16 has a second cylinder part 40 extending to a direction approximating the rack guide 28. The first cylinder part 32 and the second cylinder part 40 are fit to each other so as to be relatively movable to the third accommodation part 16 in an axial direction, and a second elastic ring 13 is gripped between an external peripheral face of the first cylinder part 32 and an internal peripheral face of the second cylinder part 40.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
