Abstract:
A radial piston pump has in each cylinder 6, a pin 10, which is urged by a spring 5 against a screwthreaded cap 7 which closes the cylinder. The pin effectively makes a point contact with the cap, thus reducing the frictional force, required for rotation of the piston. The pistons are reciprocated by the cam 3. The pin 10 has the effect of a reducing the dead space 8, thus improving the intake characteristic of the pump, and b aiding running in of the piston, by reducing the resistance to rotation of the piston in the cylinder.
