Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an image which is not influenced by sensitivity irregularity caused by a stimulable phosphor plate and a reading means without narrowing a dynamic range by previously obtaining sensitivity irregularity information and performing scanning where the intensity of stimulating light is adjusted so that the sensitivity irregularity may be negated in the case of reading the image.
SOLUTION: This reader 5 is equipped with a table 20 in order to store the rough (low frequency) sensitivity irregularity. In the case of reading the image obtained when radiation transmitted through a subject M is radiated to the stimulable phosphor plate 6, the image is read by performing scanning where the intensity of the stimulating light is adjusted so that the sensitivity irregularity may be negated according to the sensitivity irregularity data stored in the table 20. Namely, in the case of providing such characteristic that the sensitivity is gradually deteriorated at both ends of the plate 6, scanning is performed with the stimulating light having such intensity characteristic that the intensity is made high at both ends and it is gradually restricted toward the vicinity of the center part.
