Title:
RADIATION MEASUREMENT USING STIMULABLE PHOSPHOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3864387
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a differential-integral type radiation measuring method based on a combination of a method using stimulable phosphor for always monitoring radiation and a method measuring radiation while integrating it for always monitoring radiation ranging from very weak one to a very intensive one caused momentarily.
SOLUTION: In a radiation measuring method using stimulable phosphor, the stimulable phosphor serving as a radiation detecting medium is provided with two actions comprising an action storing incident radiation and reading out a radiation incident amount as stimulable fluorescence by excitation light and an action promptly emitting fluorescence by the incident radiation, and using these two actions, stimulable fluorescence and prompt fluorescence are detected in real time by means of a fluorescence detecting mechanism for detecting stimulable fluorescence and prompt fluorescence in time-sharing. In detection of stimulable fluorescence and prompt fluorescence in time-sharing, if an high-intensity radiation is incident in a short time and the fluorescence detecting mechanism is saturated and stops functioning, stimulable fluorescence is detected after restoration of the fluorescence detecting mechanism, so that an amount of high-intensity radiation incident in a short time can be measured.
