Abstract:

To provide a detector having a light weight and a large size, and having a more inexpensive price in comparison with an NaI (T1) detector, capable of measuring fast neutrons as well as analyzing a -ray spectrum such as a conventional NaI (T1) detector.

The detector has PS 31/36, light guides 33a/33b, PM parts 35a/35b, and preamplifier parts 37a/37b. The PS (plastic scintillators) 31/36 convert -rays and neutrons into light energy respectively. The light guides 33a/33b have function for guiding detected light to the photomultipliers 35a/35b. The photomultipliers 35a/35b convert a light signal into an electric signal. The preamplifier parts 37a/37b have function for amplifying the electric signal from the photomultipliers. Boron-containing paraffine 32 has function for absorbing neutrons passed a 5-mm detector 36.
