To provide a radio communication system capable of collecting data from a wide range and establishing a connection path easily, in a sensor network collecting data from a number of sensor nodes.
The radio communication system comprises a radio base station capable of communicating with a first radio communication method, a plurality of first nodes capable of communicating with the first radio communication method and a second radio communication method, and a plurality of second nodes capable of communicating with the second radio communication method. The first nodes transmit the number of connection zones in the first radio communication method to the second nodes. The second nodes obtain a signal transmitted from the first nodes and/or a reception status of a signal transmitted from the second nodes, and select an upper node to be a connection destination, based on the number of connection zones in the first radio communication method, the number of connection zones in the second radio communication method, and the obtained reception status information.
