To provide a radio communication system which can reduce a processing load at a base station side, and can effectively use communication resources in the radio communication system as a whole in the radio communication system based on CoMP.

A radio communication system comprises a plurality of base stations (13, 14), a base station controller (11) for controlling the plurality of base stations (13, 14), and a mobile station (12) comprising a plurality of antennas. In the radio communication system, the base station controller (11) makes the plurality of base stations (13, 14) mutually cooperate, and simultaneously perform radio communication with the mobile station (12). At least one base station of the plurality of mutually cooperating base stations (13, 14) simultaneously performing radio communication with the mobile station (12) notifies the base station controller (11) of the own load state. The base station controller (11) controls the plurality of base stations (13, 14) based on the notification such that radio communication between at least one base station of the plurality of base stations (13, 14) and the mobile station (12) is cancelled.
