To suppress secondary waste produced in a cutting work to the minimum by providing a radioactive material fixing means, a cooling means to inject cooling compressed air onto a saw blade, and a dust collecting means to collect dust produced in cutting.

Radioactive material is put on a table 10 and held fixedly using a pair of fixing members 11 and 12, a band saw blade 21 is rotated, and a dust-proof cover 41 is lowered. At the same time, a compressor 35 is operated so as to inject compressed air for cooling onto the band saw blade 21 and an exhaust system 45 is operated so as to suck dust and dirt. Then the radioactive material is cut off. Because the band saw blade 21 is cooled under cutting without using any cutting oil, any radioactive material which will be generated together with chips is not mixed with the cutting oil, and it is prevented that much secondary waste is produced. In addition, because the generated chips are collected while dust and dirt are being collected, the radioactive material is not dispersed onto the surrounding air and floor, and a work environment can be maintained clean and safely.
