Title:
RADIOACTIVE WASTE SOLIDIFICATION METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2017026536
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radioactive waste solidification method capable of shortening a storage period of a vitrified substance.SOLUTION: In S1A, an acid aqueous solution is injected into contaminated water containing a long-half-life radionuclide (U-238) and a short-half-life radionuclide (Cs-137) within a radioactive waste vessel, thereby reducing a pH of the contaminated water and ionizing the long-half-life radionuclide. In S1B, the pH of the contaminated water is increased by injecting an alkali aqueous solution into the contaminated water, and the long-half-life radionuclide is separated from the contaminated water by electrodeposition. In S2, the contaminated water within the radioactive waste vessel is supplied to a solidification vessel, and the short-half-life radionuclide in the contaminated water is adsorbed by an adsorbent within the solidification vessel. After discharging the contaminated water, low-melting glass is supplied into the solidification vessel. In S3, the solidification vessel filled with adsorbent adsorbing the short-half-life radionuclide and the low-melting glass is stored in a heat insulation vessel, and low-melting glass is molten with heat generated by a radiation from the short-half-life radionuclide and a vitrified substance is produced.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
