PURPOSE: To automatically turn over the page of a book by moving a page turning-over discriminating means on a book by the command from a data processing means to levitate paper at a place of a predetermined page and judging that the paper is levitated by said discriminating means and turning over the levitated paper by a page turning-over means.

CONSTITUTION: A book 6 is placed on a book placing table 5 in such a state that the page of the book is turned over and a page turning-over discriminating means 1 is placed on the left-hand end of the turned-over page. When page turning-over data enters the page turning-over discriminating means 1, this page turning-over discriminating means 1 shifts toward the end of the book while applies pressure to the book downwardly and the sensor provided to the page turning-over discriminating means 1 reacts at a place where one paper is levitated (at a place where the sound generated by the levitation of the paper is emitted) to stop the page turning-over discriminating means 1. Immediately thereafter, a page turning-over means 2 is inserted in the gap generated by the turned-over page and rotated and moved to the right by 90° to turn over the page.
