Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe rail car capable of absorbing the impact energy.
SOLUTION: A head part 100 is provided at the forefront of a car body, and its floor is made from a hollow shape 210 constituting a buffer device 200, which is composed of an upper buffer device 200 and a lower buffer device 200. The hollow shape 210 is made from a hollow work subjected to an annealing process. The extruding direction of this hollow shape 210 is identical to the longitudinal direction of the car body, and the hollow shape 210 is divided into two sections by a plate 220 about the longitudinal direction. Face plates 211 and 212 on the two surfaces of each end across the width of the hollow shape 210 are joined by plates 223-226. When an impact load is applied, the hollow shape 210 is deformed in the form of bellows to absorb the impact force. Because of partitioning of the hollow shape 210 by the plate 220 about the longitudinal direction, no buckling into a sideways tumbled chevron shape will be made, but buckling is made continuously in the form of bellows, to enable absorbing a large energy.
