PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rail monitoring device which allows an operator to easily check the condition of rails in a traveling direction from a driver's seat side via a monitor even when connecting one or more connection vehicles to a driving vehicle and traveling with the connection vehicle set to be a leading vehicle.SOLUTION: A rail monitoring device comprises a camera 22 and a monitor 17 installed to a traveling train which has a driving vehicle 3 with a driver's seat 2 installed and one or more connection vehicles 4 connected to the driving vehicle 3 and travels on rails. The monitor 17 is arranged on the driver's seat 2 side, and the camera 22 is arranged on the monitor side connection vehicle 4A which is the connection vehicle situated at the most front position among the connection vehicles 4 connected to the forward direction side of the driving vehicle 3 or the connection vehicle situated at the most rear position among the connection vehicles 4 connected to the backward direction side. The camera 22 is installed to an end side in the monitor side connection vehicle 4A on a remote side from the driving vehicle 3 in a posture that its photographing direction is directed to an opposite direction to the driver's seat 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
