To prevent scattering of fragments of an energy absorption part on crashing of a rail traveling vehicle.
On crashing of a rail traveling vehicle, at least a part of the impact energy introduced into a front end structure of the vehicle is dissipated through non-ductile fracture of at least a part of a second structural member. The second structural member has an energy absorption member including a guide pipe (60) and a pressure pipe (62). The pressure pipe (62) is formed in a hollow body with an opened front end opposite to the guide pipe (60), and the second structural member is configured so that at least a part of fragments of the energy absorption part (61) produced when the pressure pipe (62) is moved relatively with respect to the guide pipe (60) is contained in the hollow body.
