To obtain a raised fabric rich in dry touch and natural touch, not causing the fading of color, the whitening of the fabric, etc., and useful for clothes, bedclothes, carpets, etc., by forming a raised fiber section continued to base fabric with fibers changed in the diameters in the fiber axial direction and having different cross section distributions.
Two woven fabrics comprising ground warps 1, 2 and ground wefts 3, 4, respectively, are produced, and wool warps 5 having the changes of diameters in the fiber axial directions and having different cross section distributions are reciprocated as binding fibers between the two woven fabrics. The reciprocated wool warps 5 are cut with a cutter 6 to form a velvet woven fabric 7 whose surface is wholly covered with fuzzes comprising the wool warps 5. The thick-thin fibers may be used as pile warps and pile wefts to form a woven or knitted tissue fabric such as velvet, velveteen or corduroy, and fibers different in thicknesses and shapes may be added to the raised section.
