Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rare earth magnet by which dust discharging characteristics are restrained and failure of operation of a mounting apparatus is prevented, and to provide its manufacturing method.
SOLUTION: This manufacturing method for the rare earth magnet has, after a step for performing a soaking process for a rare earth magnet element 1 under a condition of unconducting electricity in a reserve soaking bath 20 comprising an organic compound having a sulfur, a step for performing an electrolytic plating process for the rare earth magnet element 1 by using an electroplating bath 30, to form a protective film 2. Growing of the protective film 2 is relatively accelerated at a recessed part 1A than a protruding part 1B of the rare earth magnet element 1, and the growth process of the protective film 2 is so controlled that the film becomes almost flat as a whole, so that surface roughness of the protective film 2 becomes 0.4 μm or less. In this protective film 2, a protruding part 2B is hard to come off due to oscillation and impulse, etc., so that it is hard to fly as dust.
