Abstract:

To provide a rare earth permanent magnet whose thin film demonstrates superior corrosion resistance by effectively suppressing electric potential difference and which is ecofriendly and inexpensive, and is provided with a film on the surface of the magnet such that it can be manufactured easily, and to provide its manufacturing method.

This rare earth permanent magnet is provided with a chemical film on its surface such that it contains, as a constituent element, (a) at least one kind of metal selected from among molybdenum, zirconium, vanadium, and tungsten, (b) a rare earth metal constituting a magnet, and (c) oxygen.
