Raw material clay for adsorbent-baking is obtained by a water splash treatment of clay obtained in nature, and a recovery of a water level portion of 80% by volume or less (more preferably 50% by volume or less) which centers on a water level portion of an intermediate height in a vertical direction of its suspension. The adsorbent is obtained by baking a baking material containing the raw material clay for adsorbent-baking, active carbon and the like at a predetermined composition ratio under an anaerobic condition at 600-900°C.
