PURPOSE: To minimize breakage of a refractory crucible and carry out the improvement of yield and the cost reduction in production of single crystal.
CONSTITUTION: A heat insulation layer 16 filled with ceramic bubbles (fine granular ceramics) and a pressure absorbing layer 18 filled with ceramic fibers are concentrically arranged in a space between a closed-end cylindrical platinium crucible 12 accommodating a fused raw material 10 for growth of single crystal and a refractory crucible 14 surrounding the outer periphery side thereof leaving a suitable space. A pressure absorbing layer filled with hollow ceramic balls may be used and plural heat insulation layers and pressure absorbing layers may be used. A heat-insulating and holding layer 20 composed of ceramic bubbles is set on the bottom of the refractory crucible and the platinium crucible is placed thereon.
