PURPOSE: To provide the title product consisting of boric acid and alkanol etheramine and used together with other component to become an excellent corrosion inhibitor useful for a cooling agent or a lubricant in an industrial cooling process.
CONSTITUTION: For example, an inert solvent is introduced into alkanol etheramine (pref., monoalkanol etheramine compd.) represented by formula I (wherein R is H or CH3 and R1 is groups represented by formulae II, III) and boric acid (e.g.; orthoboric acid) is slowly added to the resulting mixture while this mixture is heated to 70-80°C under heating to be reacted with alkanol etheramine at 70-160°C for 2-3 hr to obtain the objective product. When this product is used as a corrosion inhibitor, the product is added to an aq. soln. or emulsion in an amt. of about 0.1-6 wt.% and a usual corrosion inhibitor such as aryl or alkylsulfonamide carboxylic acid is added to the soln. or emulsion.
