PURPOSE: To simplify a control logic circuit and eliminate wrong detection, by detecting the polarity of an electrical current to produce a polarity signal and generating all control signals on the basis of the polarity signal.
CONSTITUTION: An integrator INT integrates the level of the electrical current iR for a prescribed time set by a monostable multivibrator MS3 since the time of zero crossing of the current and then holds the integrated value until the integrator is reset by another monostable multivibrator MS5. A sample/hold circuit SH(I) samples the level of a voltage eR at the time of zero crossing of the current and holds the sampled levle for a prescribed time set by a timer circuit TM. A multiplier ULT always supplies the product of the outputs of the integrator INT and the sample/hold circuit SH(I). Another sample/hold circuit SH(II) samples and holds the output of the multiplier MULT depending on the output of another monostable multivibrator MS4. The output signal VOUT of the sample/hold circuit SH(II) is proportional to the level of reactive power.
