Title:
REACTOR SYNTHESIZING DIMETHYL ETHER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3865148
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reactor for synthesizing dimethyl ether which can dissolve the low selectivity of dimethyl ether, as the high conversion of the starting gas is sustained in the single step process using a catalyst mixture of a methanol synthesis catalyst and a dehydration catalyst.
SOLUTION: The objective reactor for synthesizing dimethyl ether means a reactor which uses a gas mix containing carbon monoxide and either of hydrogen or steam or additionally containing carbon dioxide to produce dimethyl ether therefrom. The reactor comprises the lower step containing the catalyst slurry and the upper step containing the fixed bed of the catalyst. A pipe for introducing the starting gas is jointed to the lower step and another pipe for discharging the product gas is connected to the upper step.
