To provide a real time depth of field extension system and a real time depth of field extension method capable of obtaining a depth of field extension image by one frame at magnification suitable for a machine vision system and the like.
A real time depth of field extension system includes: an extension object lens system which becomes an object of the depth of field extension; an imaging means; a depth extension lens system having a first lens system disposed at the extension object lens system side and a second lens system disposed at the imaging element side; an optical system in which a principal point on the object side is located at a focal length position of the first lens system, and a principal point on the image side is located at a focal position of the second lens system and which functions as an opening of the depth extension lens system and can control the focal length by an external signal; an imaging control part for synchronously performing a focal length control of the optical system and imaging, and imaging images as one captured image by continuous exposure; and an image processing part for re-constructing the depth of field extension image from the imaged images.
