Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a reamer which has sufficient working precision and is excellent in chipping resistance and breaking resistance by utilizing ceramic in which Al2O3 is added to ZrO2 incorporating Y2O3 or Nd2O3 as a reamer material. CONSTITUTION:A reamer consists of ceramic in which 10-50wt.% Al2O3 is added to ZrO2 incorporating 1-5mol.% one or more kinds of Y2O3 or Nd2O3 as total. In the above-mentioned reamer, ceramic consisting of tetragonal-type ZrO2 as a main constituent and incorporating prescribed amount of Al2O3 is utilized as material and tetragonal-type ZrO2 is used because its toughness is high and material large in toughness (>=150kg/mm<2> flexural strength and >=5MN/m<1.5> fracture toughness) is obtained by especially incorporating Y2O3 or Nd2O3 as a stabilizing agent and chipping resistance is improved. As the production, a sintered body which is compositionally uniform and also has fine crystalline particles and is minute from the viewpoint of toughness is preferably obtained.
