Abstract:

PURPOSE: To ensure vehicle travel stability by continuing the toe control of a rear wheel with a control target value calculated on the basis of a steering angle at the time of an engine stop in a rear wheel steering device for performing the toe control of a rear wheel with both control target values calculated on the basis of a vehicle speed and a steering angle.

CONSTITUTION: A four-wheel drive vehicle is equipped with a front wheel steering mechanism A having a steering mechanism C connected thereto, and a rear wheel steering mechanism B actuated with a drive means E. Also, the drive means E has a stepping motor 30 driven and controlled with a control unit 40. This control unit 40 obtains control target values on the basis of a vehicle speed and a handle steering angle via input values from a speed sensor S1, a handle steering angle sensor S4 or the like, and performs the toe control of a rear wheel, according to both control target values. In this case, when an engine stop is detected in the vehicle, the control target value on the basis of the speed is fixed at the predetermined value, while control value setting is continued with a handle steering angle. Then, the toe control of the rear wheel is undertaken on the basis of the control target values so fixed and set.
