PURPOSE: To simplify the discrimination of the receiving status of character broadcasting signals by displaying a bar with optional width in an animation other than character multiplex information to be generally sent according to the number of programs.
CONSTITUTION: When a multiplex information program to be received is specified by a program selecting circuit 12, a write/read control circuit 9 compares the specified program code signal with the received program number signal and, when both signals are coincident to each other, a page of the transmitted pattern data of the specified program is written in a main memory 10 to store the data. The pattern data stored in the main memory 10 is read out synchronously with the laster scanning of a cathode-ray tube (CRT) 13 and displayed under stationary status for a fixed period. If an animation other than character multiplex information is displayed on CRT13, a character multiplex display signal read out from the main memory 10 is added to a general on-air signal as a signal for displaying the number of programs, so that a bar with optional width is displayed on animation other than the character multiplex information to be generally sent according to the receiving status of character broadcasting.
