A 1394 receiving part 11 is of the IEEE 1394 standard format and receives data transmitted via an AV bus. A separating circuit 12 determines the data form referring to the prescribed area of a CIP header in the data, and if the data are MPEG-PS data, the data are outputted to an MPEG-PS decoder 13, while if the data are MPEG-TS data, the data are outputted to an MPEG-TS decoder 14, and if the data are DVCR-SD data, the data are outputted to a DVCR-SD decoder 15. The MPEG-PS decoder 13, the MPEG-TS decoder 14 and the DVCR-SD decoder 15 decode supplied data in respective formats.
