To provide a receiver that waits for start signals of emergency prompt reports with low power consumption and quickly and reliably receives the emergency prompt reports, and to provide a transmitter for transmitting the emergency prompt reports.
The receiver receives a transmission control signal (AC signal) from terrestrial digital television broadcast waves. The receiver includes: an AC extraction section 12 that is previously prescribed so that telegram information, which includes a start flag signal for identifying the presence or absence of the emergency prompt reports and a known signal positioned in symbols located at positions where the start flag signal is adjacent, is transmitted from a transmission side by the transmission control signal, and receives the carrier of the transmission control signal; a frame synchronization section 14 for detecting the frame of the transmission control signal for frame synchronization of the transmission control signal; a propagation path estimation section 23 for detecting the known signal according to frame-synchronization timing to estimate propagation path characteristics until the reception of the start flag from the transmission side; and a start flag demodulation section 13 for demodulating the start flag signal, based on the estimated propagation path characteristics.
