A receiving device for receiving a mode S signal includes: a quadrature detection section 2 for performing quadrature detection of a reception signal; a frequency compensation section 5 for compensating a frequency offset of the reception signal after the quadrature detection; an advance wave detection section 3 for estimating an advance wave incoming time as an incoming time of an advance wave on the basis of the reception signal after compensation of the frequency offset; a propagation path estimation section 6 for estimating a propagation path on the basis of a preamble portion of the reception signal after compensation of the frequency offset, and the advance wave incoming time; and an equalization section 7 for performing equalization processing for compensating distortion due to multi-pass for the reception signal after compensation of the frequency offset on the basis of the estimation result by the propagation path estimation section 6, and performing bit determination on the basis of the equalization processing result.
