PURPOSE: To always ensure the reception in the optimum direction by using a pair of dipole antennas having the directional characteristics which can be controlled freely.

CONSTITUTION: Dipole antennas 8 and 9 possessing the distribution constant inductance each incorporate the variable reactance respectively and distributed in parallel to each other to be connected to compounding unit 10. Receiver 13 connected to the antenna part thus formed detects the extent of the multipath effect contained in the intermediate frequency signal by detector 14. Then this detection signal is compared 15 with the reference value to supply the control signal to adders 18 and 19 each. On the other hand, the control signals sent from tuning controller 20 are added together by adders 18 and 19. And the control is given to the directional characteristics of the antenna part to secure the minimum multipath effect. In such way, the reception is always possible in the optimum direction, at the same time attaining a small size of the antenna part.
